Primary text

If water and fodder for the animals are available at the usual stopping places along the route, there is no obligation to carry them from one's hometown or from the nearest towns to Mecca, such as the outskirts of Sham (Syria) or similar regions. This is because carrying them is too burdensome, is not customary practice, and one cannot carry enough water for the animals for the entire journey, unlike provisions (food).
