Primary text

When the ritual stoning is performed by a deputy on behalf of a sick person, it is preferable that the sick person be present at the time the stoning occurs, provided he is able to be present. If he is too weak to attend, the deputy may perform the Ramy while the principal remains where he is.

Imam Malik stated that the sick person should ascertain the time of the stoning and utter seven Takbirs (Allahu Akbar) at that designated time.
