Primary text

If the traveler passes a route that does not include Dhu al-Hulayfah, their Miqat becomes Al-Juhfah, regardless of whether they are Syrian or from Madinah. This is based on the narration from Jabir: 'The Miqat for the people of Madinah is Dhu al-Hulayfah, and the other route is from Al-Juhfah.' Furthermore, if they pass one Miqat and not another, they are not obligated to assume Ihram before it, similar to other Miqats. It is inferred that Abu Qatadah omitted Ihram for his companions during the wild donkey hunting incident because they did not pass Dhu al-Hulayfah, thus postponing their Ihram until Al-Juhfah.

Supporting text

The narration concerning 'A'ishah delaying her Umrah Ihram until Al-Juhfah can be interpreted similarly, implying her route did not pass Dhu al-Hulayfah, thus preventing her action from contradicting the Prophet's ruling and the consensus of the scholars.
