Primary text

The apparent understanding from the statement of al-Khiraqi is that slaughtering the Hady and Udhiyah during the nights that fall between the prescribed days of sacrifice is not valid because Allah the Almighty specified "known days" in the verse {And mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of the grazing livestock} (Quran 22:28), thereby excluding the nights.

Others among our scholars stated that the slaughter is permissible during the two nights preceding the Tashreeq days. This is the position of the majority of jurists, as these two nights are considered part of the duration allotted for the slaughter, thus making slaughter valid during them, analogous to the valid days.
