If a slave in the process of making up an invalidated Hajj is freed and completes sufficient time for standing at Arafah (Waqf), does this count as his obligatory Hajj?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
If a slave is freed during the performance of the invalidated Hajj and manages to complete the portion of Waqf that suffices, the performance counts as the obligatory Hajj (Hajjat al-Islam). This is because if the invalidated Hajj had been valid, it would have sufficed, and the same applies to its make-up.
Supporting text
If the slave is freed after completing the necessary part of the ritual (Waqf), the performance does not suffice for the obligatory Hajj if the initial Hajj would not have sufficed had it been valid.
