Primary text

Upon finishing the Talbiyah, one should send blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) and supplicate for whatever good one desires in this life and the Hereafter. This is based on a narration recorded by Al-Daraqutni, through a chain from Khuzaymah ibn Thabit, stating that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), upon finishing his Talbiyah, would ask Allah for forgiveness and pleasure, and seek refuge in His mercy from the Fire. Al-Qasim ibn Muhammad stated that it is recommended (*yustahabbu*) for a man, after completing his Talbiyah, to send blessings upon Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Supporting text

This practice is supported by the interpretation regarding the verse {And We raised high for you your remembrance} (Quran 94:4), which is understood to mean: 'I am not mentioned except that you are mentioned with Me.' Additionally, in most locations where the remembrance of Allah is legislated, the remembrance of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is also legislated, such as in the Adhan and Salah (prayer).
