Al-Mughni
Book of Hajj
Primary text
It is recommended that one supplicates upon seeing the Sacred House (the Kaaba) with the formulation: 'O Allah, You are Peace, and from You is Peace, greet us, O our Lord, with Peace.' Furthermore, it is recommended to say: 'O Allah, increase this House in veneration, honor, glorification, awe, and righteousness, and increase those who perform Hajj and Umrah to it in veneration, honor, glorification, awe, and righteousness.' Imam Al-Shafi'i reports in his Musnad that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) raised his hands when he saw the House and made this specific supplication regarding increasing its honor and the honor of those who visit it. Other supplications recommended include: 'Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, abundantly, as He deserves and as befits the nobility of His Countenance and the might of His Majesty,' and 'Praise be to Allah Who allowed me to reach His House and deemed me worthy of that,' and 'Praise be to Allah in all circumstances,' followed by: 'O Allah, You invited to the Hajj of Your Sacred House, and I have come to You for that. O Allah, accept it from me, forgive me, and rectify all my affairs, there is no god but You.'
