Tawaf is valid even if one moves far from the Kaaba, provided one remains within the Masjid. The existence of a barrier, such as a dome or something else, between the circumambulator and the Kaaba does not invalidate the Tawaf. This is analogous to a worshipper praying behind a barrier in congregation within the Masjid. Evidence for this is the narration of Umm Salamah, who complained of illness to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and was instructed to perform Tawaf while riding behind the people, and she observed the Prophet (PBUH) praying next to the Kaaba.
