Primary text

If the main door of the dwelling is locked, the interior compartments are considered enclosed, even if their individual doors are open or closed. If the main door is open, the interior compartments are not considered enclosed unless they are themselves locked or there is a guard present in the dwelling.

The distinction is that the doors of the inner compartments are secured by the presence of the main dwelling door. Conversely, the main door is secured only by its installation, and not by any other means.
