If both flogging and stoning are decreed for the married adulterer, the flogging should commence first, followed by stoning. It is permissible to perform both punishments consecutively without delay, as the intention is the complete infliction of the prescribed penalties, and immediate succession does not invalidate the intent. Ali, peace be upon him, demonstrated this by flogging Shariha on Thursday and stoning her on Friday.
