What is the prescribed punishment for a slave (*'abd*) who commits fornication (*zina*) and is subsequently freed?

If a slave commits fornication and is then manumitted, the punishment prescribed for a slave is executed upon him, because the penalty that became obligatory upon him is carried out. This is the ruling applied.
