Primary text

Accusing a man with the term 'Dayyuth' necessitates a discretionary punishment (Ta'zir). This ruling is based on the analogy applied to similar accusations for which no fixed statutory punishment (Hadd) is prescribed, as the term 'Dayyuth' does not fall under the definition of Qadhf (libel/slander) requiring Hadd. Imam Ahmad holds this view. The meaning accepted generally is one who permits men to enter upon his wife.

Al-Harbi defined the Dayyuth as one who allows men to enter upon his wife. Tha'lab defined it as one who consents to men entering upon his wife.
