What is the ruling if the thief's left foot is paralyzed or amputated while both hands are sound?
Chapter on Amputation in Theft
Al-Mughni
Book of Ḥudūd (Prescribed Penalties)
Primary text
The right hand is amputated because there is no fear that the harm of the amputation will extend to the unamputated part (the leg). By extension of this principle, if the thief's left hand was amputated or paralyzed during the theft, nothing should be cut from him.
