Is carrion permissible for a person in a state of necessity due to committing a sin during travel?

Primary text
Carrion is not permissible for a person in a state of necessity arising from travel undertaken in commission of a sin, such as a highway robber or an escaped slave. This ruling is based on the verse: {But whoever is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor transgressing limits, there is no sin upon him} (Quran 2:173). Mujahid interpreted 'without willful disobedience' as not being rebellious against Muslims, and Sa'id ibn Jubayr stated that if one sets out to rob, there is no concession for them; however, if they repent and cease their sin, eating becomes permissible for them.
