Primary text
Theryaq, a medicine treated for poison that includes snake meat, is not permissible to consume or drink because snake meat is unlawful. Al-Hasan and Ibn Sirin disliked its use. The foundation for its impermissibility is that snake meat is forbidden, and it is not permissible to seek healing through what is forbidden, based on the statement of the Prophet: "Indeed, Allah has not placed the cure of my Ummah in what He has forbidden to them."

Al-Sha'bi and Malik permitted it, as they hold snake meat to be permissible. This permissibility is also implied by the position of Al-Shafi'i, who permits seeking treatment with certain unlawful things.
