Is it permissible to eat locusts or fish without slaughtering them or opening their bellies?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Hunting and Slaughter
Primary text
It is permissible to eat locusts along with everything contained within them, similarly to fish. Fish may be fried without splitting its belly. The basis for this ruling is the general text indicating their permissibility, and the objection that anything within them is impure is not conceded.
Supporting text
The companions of Al-Shafi'i stated that regarding fish, it is not permissible to eat them without splitting the belly because their intestines (raji') are impure.
