General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Hunting and Slaughter
Primary text
Water containing impurities such as feces (hadh), dead matter (maytah), or similar substances, used to attract fish, is disliked. Ahmad stated that it is prohibited (haram) to hunt using such means because it involves the fish consuming impurity.
Supporting text
This prohibition applies equally to dispersed impurities like blood and feces, and non-dispersed matter like rats or pieces of carrion. Ahmad also disliked hunting with certain flying insects ('Banat Waradan') because their nesting place is in latrines, and he disliked hunting with frogs, stating that killing frogs is forbidden.
