General Chapter
Al-Mughni

Primary text
If a person shoots an arrow while not seeing any game, and it happens to strike and kill game, the kill is not considered lawful because the intent to hunt a specific animal was not present, and striking unseen game is not the customary or probable outcome of the action.
Supporting text
This scenario is contrasted with direct hunting where the cause (the hunter's action) is treated as direct participation in the taking ('mubasharah') regarding liability ('daman'), and consequently, regarding permissibility of the game.
