What limits apply to the consumption of a brother's property when in a state of necessity?

A person in dire necessity is permitted to consume only what is permissible from carrion (maitah) from the property of their brother. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet instructed that the needy person may eat and drink but not carry away provisions.
