The term "mukallabin" refers to the act of inciting or urging an animal to hunt (at-Takleeb). It is not restricted solely to dogs. Furthermore, the term jarah (birds of prey) in the Quran is understood generally to mean creatures that catch or acquire, as evidenced by the verse, "And He knows what you have earned by day" (Quran 6:60), where jarahtu refers to what was earned (kasabtum). Similarly, a man's 'jaraha' refers to his provider or earner.
