Primary text
If a person in dire need finds someone willing to feed and quench their thirst, it is not lawful for them to refuse this sustenance and resort to eating carrion. This exception applies only if they fear the food is poisoned, causing death, or if the offered food is harmful and they genuinely fear it will cause them to perish or fall ill.
