It is sunnah to perform *Nahr* (slaughtering by piercing the neck base) for camels and *Dhabh* (cutting the throat) for all other animals. This is evidenced by the Divine command, 'So pray to your Lord and sacrifice' (Quran 2:2), referring to *Nahr*, and 'Indeed, Allah commands that you slaughter a cow' (Quran 2:67), referring to *Dhabh*. This distinction is understood because the Prophet's community primarily dealt with camels, establishing the practice of *Nahr*, while the Israelites were commanded to slaughter cows.
