Primary text

The dislike concerning the *Jallalah* is removed by detaining it, this being agreed upon. However, there is a difference of opinion regarding the specific duration. One narration from Ahmed states that it should be detained for three days, whether it is a bird or a beast, following the practice of Ibn Umar. This view is supported by Abu Thur, based on the principle that what purifies one animal purifies another, similar to something whose exterior has been defiled.

Another opinion, attributed to 'Ata regarding camels and cows, mandates detaining poultry for three days, but detaining camels, cows, and similar animals for forty days. This distinction is drawn because larger animals retain the impact of their feed longer, as evidenced by the narration concerning Abdullah ibn Amr, which mentioned detaining the camel for forty nights.
