Primary text

When a man enters a house, eats the host's food, drinks their beverage, and they pray for him, that act of praying for him constitutes the recompense (*ithabah*). This is evidenced by the narration concerning Abu Al-Haytham ibn Al-Tiyhan, where the Prophet, peace be upon him, stated, 'Recompense your brother,' explaining that the supplication of the hosts is the recompense. This narration is recorded by Abu Dawud.

Supporting text

The event involving the Prophet (peace be upon him) visiting Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah, where he ate bread and oil, resulted in the Prophet saying, 'The fasting ones have broken their fast with you, the righteous have eaten your food, and the angels have prayed for you.' This indicates a blessing upon the host.
