What is the ruling regarding an animal that escapes (nad) from a hunter?
General Chapter

Book of Hunting and Slaughter
Primary text
The ruling is based on the narration of Rafi' ibn Khadij, who stated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said regarding an escaped animal: 'Verily, these beasts have a wild nature like wild animals; whatever overcomes you of them, do this to it.' This is evidence supporting the permissibility of killing such animals by any means when unable to perform proper slaughter. The action taken against a wild ox attacked with a sword by a man who mentioned Allah's name was confirmed as valid slaughter (dhakat wahiyya) by Ali.
