Primary text

It has been stated that the elder son pays half of what he holds to both other parties. The agreed-upon sibling takes one-third of what the younger son holds. This results in the younger son receiving one-third, the elder son receiving one-fourth, the agreed-upon sibling receiving one-sixth plus one-eighth, and the disputed sibling receiving one-eighth. The entire division is resolved into twenty-four parts: the younger son receives eight, the agreed-upon sibling receives seven, the elder son receives six, and the disputed sibling receives three.
