Primary text
If the counts of the two groups are proportional, meaning one count is a fraction (such as half or a third) of the other, it suffices to multiply the larger count by the original base of the shares. If, for instance, the grandmothers are six and the brothers' count is half that (three), the larger number (six) is used. Multiplying six by the original base results in the new, correct total issue size (e.g., 36). If one group's count aligns with their shares proportionally, they are reduced to that alignment before proceeding with the multiplication.
