Does the difference in consummation before or after marriage affect the inheritance rights of the spouses?

Primary text
There is no distinction regarding the inheritance of spouses whether the marriage has been consummated or not. This is based on the generality of the legal ruling and the precedent set by the Prophet (peace be upon him) who ruled that Baroo' bint Washuq inherited from her husband who died before consummation, and no *mahr* (dower) was stipulated for her. Since the marriage contract is valid and established, it grants inheritance rights, just as it does after consummation.
