Primary text

The daughter of the maternal brother receives one-sixth (al-sudus), and the remainder goes to the daughter of the paternal brother. If there is no daughter of the paternal brother, the remainder goes to the daughter of the paternal cousin.

Supporting text

If one adopts the view that distant relatives are attached to their nearest inheritor, and treats paternity as one degree (jiha) and brotherhood as another, then the children of the brothers are excluded. If paternity is considered one degree and cognateship (uncles/aunts) another degree, the daughter of the paternal cousin is excluded by the daughter of the maternal cousin. This view is attributed to Ibn Salim and is considered weak.
