Distribution among uterine siblings (maternal siblings) when the estate is limited.

Book of Inheritance Shares (Farā'id)
Primary text
Uterine siblings share the one-third portion allotted to them equally, males and females alike. This is established by the Divine saying: "To each one of them is one-sixth" (Quran 4:12), which makes no distinction between male and female, and the statement: "So they are partners in one-third" (Quran 4:12), which implies equality without preference. This equality is held by the general consensus of scholars and the Companions, including Umar, Ali, Ibn Mas'ud, and Zayd.
Supporting text
A dissenting narration attributed to Ibn Abbas suggested preference for the male over the female based on the verse concerning full siblings: "But if they are brothers, men and women, then for the male is the equivalent of the share of two females" (Quran 4:176). However, this is rebutted as that verse refers specifically to full siblings or paternal siblings, and the explicit texts regarding uterine siblings mandate equality.
