Distribution between the son of the daughter of a son (ibn bint ibn) and the daughter of the daughter of a son of a daughter (bint bint bint ibn).
Chapter on Distant Kindred (Dhawu al-Arham)
Al-Mughni
Book of Inheritance Shares (Farā'id)
Primary text
The inheritance belongs entirely to the son of the daughter of a son because he is closer to the inheritor. This is the view held by the majority of those who rule on inheritance shares. The inheritance is calculated as if the son of the daughter of a son is replacing the daughter he descends from.
Supporting text
An exception is related from Ibn Salim, who argues for bringing the distant relative up to the level of his inheritor, resulting in the total inheritance being split into four shares, giving the daughter three shares and the son one share.
