Distribution of inheritance between the daughter of a daughter (bint bint) and the daughter of the son of a daughter (bint bint ibn).
Chapter on Distant Kindred (Dhawu al-Arham)
Al-Mughni
Book of Inheritance Shares (Farā'id)
Primary text
The inheritance is allocated as four shares between the daughter of the daughter and the daughter of the son of the daughter, according to both Al-Manzileen (two jurists/judges). If there is an additional daughter of the son of a daughter, it is treated as if there were two daughters of the son of a daughter. If there are two daughters of the son of a daughter, the issue is solved from eight shares, becoming valid from sixteen shares.
Supporting text
According to the people of kinship (Ahl al-Qaraba), the distribution favors the daughter of the daughter because she is closer to the deceased.
