What is the extent of Awl when the primary denominator is 24?
Chapter on the Roots of Inheritance Shares that Increase (Awl)

Book of Inheritance Shares (Farā'id)
Primary text
When the primary denominator is 24 (arising from combining one-eighth with one-sixth, or one-eighth with two-thirds), the case can increase (Awl) up to 27, but no further. This base is established by multiplying the denominator of one-eighth by the denominator of two-thirds, or by the Wafq when combining with one-sixth, resulting in 24. The fraction one-third cannot combine with one-eighth because one-third is assigned to siblings of the mother (if there are no children) or the mother (if there are no children), while one-eighth is assigned to the wife when there are children, or the mother if there are no children, creating exclusionary conditions.

The case reaching 27 is called al-Bakhīlah (The Stingy) because it increases the least relative to its base fraction (one-eighth becomes one-ninth after Awl). It is also called al-Minbariyyah because Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) ruled on it while on the pulpit, stating the wife's share went from one-eighth to one-ninth.
