What happens if a third claimant is admitted after the first two claimants have received their shares?
Chapter on Distant Kindred (Dhawu al-Arham)
Al-Mughni
Book of Inheritance Shares (Farā'id)
Primary text
If the admitting party admits a third claimant after the first two, and both existing claimants confirm this third admission, the lineage of the third claimant is established. He then takes one-fourth of the wealth in the possession of each of the first two, assuming each of the first two possesses one-third of the total wealth.
Supporting text
If the first two claimants deny the lineage of the third, his lineage is not established. His claim for compensation against the admitting party follows the detailed rulings established in the previous scenario.
