Primary text

According to the first opinion (grandmother inherits), the one-sixth share is divided between the two grandmothers. According to the second opinion (grandmother does not inherit with father), the one-sixth share goes entirely to the maternal grandmother, and the remainder goes to the father.

Supporting text

A third view states that the maternal grandmother receives half of the one-sixth share, and the remainder goes to the father, reasoning that if the father were absent, the maternal grandmother would only receive half the one-sixth, so her share should not increase with his presence. However, the first view is deemed sounder because when brothers exist with both parents, they veil the mother from half her inheritance without taking what she is veiled from; instead, it accrues to the father, similarly here.
