Primary text

If the shared ancestor is the mother, the ruling group (those who differ from the minority view) grants the son three-quarters (3/4) of the estate and his sister the remaining quarter (1/4). This is the opinion held by the majority, including Abu Hanifa and Muhammad. The minority opinion grants the son half and a third, and the sister one-sixth.

Supporting text

The ruling based on the logic of Abu Yusuf suggests the son receives four-fifths (4/5) of the estate, and the sister receives the remaining fifth (1/5).
