Primary text

There is a difference of opinion regarding whether the lineage of grandmothers or brotherhood is stronger when a grandmother is also a sister. Some hold that the lineage of grandmothers is stronger because it is a relationship of birth that is not eliminated by the presence of children. Others, including Ibn Surayj and others, maintain that brotherhood is stronger because it results in a greater inheritance share. The latter view is considered correct.
