Primary text

A case whose primary denominator is 6 can increase (Awl) up to 7, 8, 9, or 10, but no further. This is derived from cases involving one-half and other fractions. For instance, when one-half and one-sixth are present, the base is 6. If one-half and one-third or two-thirds are present, the base is 6, derived from multiplying 2 (denominator of one-half) and 3 (denominator of one-third/two-thirds), which allows for Awl due to the crowding of shares.

Supporting text

The case leading to Awl of 10 is known as Um al-Furookh (Mother of Chicks) due to the high number of its resulting shares relative to the base, citing an anecdote involving Sharih and a questioner.
