Primary text

When there is one full sister, she is definitively assigned one-half as stipulated by the Book (Quran 4:176). The remaining portion from the prescribed two-thirds for sisters is one-sixth, which is assigned to the paternal-only sisters to complete the two-thirds, as established by the jurists. If the paternal relatives include males and females, the remainder is divided between them according to the rule: 'And if they are brothers, men and women, then for the male is the share of two females' (Quran 4:176).
