What is the ruling on the marriage contract if one spouse apostatizes after consummation?
Chapter on Distant Kindred (Dhawu al-Arham)

Book of Inheritance Shares (Farā'id)
Primary text
If apostasy occurs after consummation, there are two narrations regarding the dissolution of the marriage. One narration dictates an immediate separation. The other mandates that the separation awaits the completion of the waiting period ('iddah), and in either case, if one dies, the survivor does not inherit from the deceased.
