In the case of two brothers drowning, where each has a separate master, those who permit mutual inheritance divide the inheritance between the masters of the deceased brothers. Those who prohibit mutual inheritance assign the entirety of each brother's estate to his respective master. Where the ruling of suspension (Waqf) is adopted, the wealth of both is suspended.

If both masters claim their respective freedman died last, each must swear an oath to negate the other's claim, and the estate of the one whose claim is negated goes to the other master, according to the ruling derived from al-Kharqi's position.
