What is the ruling if the number of sisters/brothers increases beyond the initial assumption resulting in a larger remainder?
Chapter on Inheritance of the Grandfather
Al-Mughni
Book of Inheritance Shares (Farā'id)
Primary text
If the remaining shares are increased beyond the initial division (such as when more siblings are present), the grandfather is allotted the fixed share of one-sixth (Al-Suds). The matter then shifts such that the total shares are computed based on a denominator of twenty-four (Arba'ah wa 'Ishrun), and the shares are subsequently resolved based on the lowest common denominator of those inheriting.
