Primary text
The legal ruling concerning the daughters of a son's son, in relation to the daughters of a son, is the same as the ruling concerning the daughters of a son in relation to the daughters of the main male descendant (son of the paternal line). Specifically, if those higher up have completed two-thirds (of the inheritance), the lower descendants forfeit their share unless there is a male relative (*'asaba*) to inherit the remainder. This applies whether the two-thirds is completed by those on the same level, or by the highest level, or the one immediately below them. This principle applies to all descendants whose degree is lower than another relative.
