Primary text

If the number of siblings exceeds two, or the equivalent number of sisters, the grandfather is assigned one-third of the entire estate, not the division share ('muqasamah'). If the number of siblings is less than this threshold, the division share is preferred for the grandfather. If the fixed shares exceed half the estate, the grandfather does not receive a share based on one-third of the remainder.

Supporting text

When the fixed shares equal exactly half the estate, the grandfather's share is equal whether calculated as one-sixth of the total or one-third of the remainder. When there are exactly two brothers and a grandfather, the division share equals one-third of the remainder.
