Primary text

If the terminally ill husband states to his slave and Dhimmi wife: 'If you become free, or if you embrace Islam, you are divorced,' and subsequently the slave is freed and the Dhimmi converts, and then the husband dies, both women inherit from him. This ruling applies because the divorce occurred due to the fulfillment of the condition, thus constituting a divorce issued in anticipation of an event ('Farr') that would grant them inheritance rights.
