Is a bankrupt person's confession of freeing a slave valid?
General Chapter

Book of the Insolvent (Bankruptcy)
Primary text
If the bankrupt confesses that he freed his slave, the validity of this confession depends on whether the freeing act of the bankrupt is valid. If it is decided that his freeing act is valid, then his confession is valid, and the slave is freed, because whoever owns something has the right to confess ownership thereof, and confessing emancipation results in emancipation, as if he freed the slave at that moment. If it is decided that his freeing act is invalid, his confession is not accepted, and the creditors must swear an oath that they do not know of the alleged emancipation.
