This matter depends on the validity of the bankrupt's manumission. If we rule that his manumission is invalid, their affirmation has no effect. If we rule that it is valid, it is treated the same as their affirmation of manumission before bankruptcy.

If a judge rules on its validity or invalidity, that ruling is binding in all cases because it is an issue of *Ijtihad* (scholarly effort); therefore, what the judge rules is executed, and it is not permissible to overturn or change that ruling.
