Primary text
The maintenance and clothing for the bankrupt and those dependent upon him are obligatory. The required amount for maintenance and clothing is the minimum customarily provided to someone of similar standing, and the minimum required clothing is a shirt, trousers, head covering (such as a turban or cap, consistent with custom), and footwear, if customarily worn. If necessary for protection against cold, a cloak or fur garment must be provided.
Supporting text
If the bankrupt possesses clothing inappropriate for his status, it must be sold, and clothing suitable for his status must be purchased for him. Any surplus is returned to the creditors. If selling the current clothes and buying new ones results in no surplus, the sale is abandoned to avoid futility.
