Is it permissible for the person in i'tikaf to engage in selling or buying?

The person in i'tikaf is not permitted to sell or buy, except for immediate necessities such as food. Trade, taking, or giving transactions are not permitted. This is based on the Hadith where the Prophet (PBUH) forbade selling and buying in the mosque.

Supporting text

Regarding manual work, some scholars hold that earning a living through work is prohibited, resembling trade. Minor personal repair, such as sewing a torn garment or tying a loosened string, is permissible as it is a minor necessity comparable to dressing and undressing.
