What is the consequence for failing to participate in Jihad when one is capable?

If a person dies without having fought or even intending to fight, they die upon a branch of hypocrisy. This is supported by the ruling that those believers who remain behind without legitimate excuse are not equal to those who strive with their wealth and selves, as God has granted the Mujahideen a degree above the stay-at-homes, although both groups are promised the best reward by God.
